Does anyone know about the 1999-2005 Audi Allroads?

I really like them! They're pretty much a lifted A6 that has plenty of room for horse feed, bikes, plants, and whatever else I decide that I need to carry. There is also plenty of ground clearance for Louisiana "roads". So are there any years, engines, etc I should avoid if I get one? Is there a certain mileage at which everything seems to go kaboom on them? Can I do most of the maintenance myself or are things placed in a way to where only a dealer could work on them.

No, they just came that way from the factory.

It's an early 2000's VW.

Air suspension and the 2.7 biturbo. The Allroad's biggest problem areas.

Awesome cars when they work. But they have a very similar air-ride suspension as the Phaeton, only it is height adjustable which means when it craps out (not if...when) you get to be a VW/Audi stance bro.

As an Audi owner I can tell you they aren't rolling grenades the way most say they are but yeah they have some issues. Typical Audi electrical gremlins, carbon buildup, seals, timing, and on these particular Allroads the suspension. NOW. That being said. If you find one that has had all these things rectified prior to purchase then YES they are so fuuuunnnnnnnnn! But get a warranty....

Also some have manuals and come in brown.

A lot of people rip out the air suspension for traditional shocks/struts so look for that.

There are a ton of aftermarket go-fast upgrades if you like tinkering with that.

Imagine the reliability problems of a c5 Audi a6's tranamission. Now, apply that to every single part on the car.
